Who are we?

Balibo Trails is more than a tour guide company. We’re an opportunity. Everything we do exists in harmony with nature, culture, and community.

In 2019, the Balibò House Trust used a friendship grant from DFAT to create Balibò Trails, a social enterprise that would pioneer remote ecotourism in Timor-Leste. With the help of our 10 local guides, Balibò Trials is becoming, well, a trail blazer in ethical tourism.

Our guided tours are honest explorations of our life, history, and culture. Each tour allows us to tell the unheard stories of Balibó and we want to create a unique and memorable experience for you. There is something for everyone; short walks, longer hikes, easy cycling and off the road mountain biking.

Where are we?

Around 3 hours west of Dili, Balibo Trails is nestled in the mountainous corner of Timor-Leste in the historic village of Balibó.
